1O Lord, remember David,
and all the hardships he endured.
2 He swore an oath to the Lord,
and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob,
3 “I will not enter my house,
or get into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes,
or my eyelids to slumber,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 We heard of it at Ephrathah;
we found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 Let us go to His dwelling place;
let us worship at His footstool.
8 Arise, O Lord, come to Your place of rest;
You and the ark of Your strength.
9 Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness;
let Your saints shout for joy.
10 For the sake of David Your servant,
do not turn away the face of Your anointed.
11 The Lord swore an oath to David,
and He will not turn back from it:
“One from the fruit of your own body
I will set upon your throne.
12 If your sons will keep My covenant
and My decrees that I will teach them,
their sons will also sit upon your throne, forever.”
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place.
14 “This is My resting place forever;
here will I dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will fill her with abundant provisions;
I will satisfy her needy with bread.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and her saints will ever sing for joy.
17 “There I will make a horn grow for David;
I have prepared a lamp for My anointed.
18 I will clothe his enemies,
but the crown he wears will shine brilliantly.”
