Song of Songs.
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
for your love is more choice than fine wine.
3 The fragrance of your perfumes are pleasing;
your name is perfume poured out.
No wonder the maidens adore you.
4 Take me away with you—let us hurry!
Oh that the king would take me into his chambers.
We will rejoice and delight in you;
we will praise your love more than wine.
How right they are to love you.
5 O daughters of Jerusalem,
I am dark like the tents of Kedar,
yet lovely like the curtains of Solomon.
6 Do not stare at me because I am dark,
for the sun has gazed on me.
My mother’s sons were angry with me
and they made me take care of the vineyards,
but I neglected my own vineyard.
7 Tell me, you whom I love, where you pasture your flock
and where you rest them at noon.
Why should I be like one who veils herself
beside the flocks of your companions?
8 If you do not know, O most beautiful of women,
follow the tracks of the flock,
and pasture your young goats
near the tents of the shepherds.
9 I liken you, O my darling, to a mare
harnessed to Pharaoh’s chariots.
10 Your cheeks are beautiful with jewellery,
your neck with necklaces of gold.
11 We will make you gold jewellery
studded with silver.
12 While the king was at his table,
my perfume gave forth its fragrance.
13 My lover is like a sachet of myrrh to me
resting between my breasts all night.
14 My lover is a cluster of henna blossoms to me,
thriving in the vineyards of En-gedi.
15 How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh how very beautiful!
Your eyes are doves.
16 How handsome you are, my darling.
Oh how delightful!
Our bed is verdant and lush.
17 The beams of our house are choice cedars;
our rafters are fir.
