The Book of 2 Thessalonians

2 Thessalonians Chapter 1

Greeting

1
PAUL,

Silanus, and Timothy,

To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving

3 We are bound to always thanks God for you, brothers, as is fitting, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love each of you has for one another is increasing.  4  Therefore, we ourselves boast about you among God’s churches for your perseverance and faith during all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.

God’s Righteous Judgment

5 All this is evidence of, so that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also are suffering.  6  For God is just, and He will repay with affliction those who afflict you  7  and give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels  8  In flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  9  These will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and will be forever shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His glorious power  10  on the day when He comes to be glorified in His saints and to be marvelled at among all who have believed. This includes yourselves, because our testimony among you was believed.

11  In view of this, we always pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfil by His power every desire for goodness and the work of faith,  12  so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
