Psalm 30

Joy Comes in the Morning

A Psalm. A song for the dedication of the house. Of David.

1will exalt You, O Lord,
for You have lifted me up, and do not allow my enemies to triumph over me. 2 O Lord my God, I cried to You for help,
and You have healed me. 3 O Lord, You have brought my soul up from Sheol;
You spared me from going down to the Pit.   4 Sing praise to the Lord, O you His saints;
praise His holy name. 5 For His anger only lasts a moment,
but His favour lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.   6 When I was prosperous, I said,
“I will never be shaken.” 7 O Lord, by Your favour
You made me like a strong mountain; when You hid Your face,
I was dismayed.   8 I cried out to You, O Lord;
to the Lord I pleaded for mercy: 9 “What profit is there in my blood,
if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your faithfulness? 10Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me;
O Lord, be my helper.”   11 You turned my mourning into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will praise You forever.
