Recalling God’s Mighty Works for His People Israel

For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

1cried out to God for help;
with my voice to God, that He may hear me. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
by night my hands were stretched out without ceasing, and my soul refused to be comforted.   3 I remember God, and I groan loudly;
I contemplate, and my spirit grows faint  Selah 4 You keep my eyes from closing;
I am so troubled that I cannot speak. 5 I have considered the days of old,
the years of long ago. 6 I remembered my songs in the night;
I contemplated within my heart and my spirit inquired:   7 “Will the Lord reject forever?
Will He never show His favour again? 8 Has His faithful love ceased forever?
Are His promises at an end forever? 9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has He in anger withheld His compassion?”  Selah   10 Then I thought, “This is my grief:
that the right hand of the Most High has changed.” 11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will meditate on all Your works,
and contemplate all Your mighty deeds.   13 Your ways, O God, are holy;
what god is great like our God? 14 You are the God who works wonders;
You have displayed Your strength among the peoples. 15 With You mighty arm You have redeemed Your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.  Selah   16 The waters saw You, O God;
when the waters saw You, they convulsed; the very depths trembled. 17 The clouds poured out water;
the skies roared with thunder; Your arrows flashed back and forth. 18 The crash of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
Your lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked. 19 Your way went through the sea,
Your path, through the mighty waters, yet Your footprints were not seen.   20 You led Your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
