God’s Bountiful Provision for His Creation on Earth

1BLESS the Lord, O my soul!   O Lord my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with honour and majesty. 2 You cover Yourself with light as with a garment,
You stretched out the heavens like a tent. 3 He lays the beams of His chambers in the waters,
He makes the clouds His chariot, He walks upon the wings of the wind, 4 He makes His angels spirits,
His servants a flaming fire.   5 He set the earth on its foundations;
it will never be shaken. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains. 7 At Your rebuke they fled;
at the voice of Your thunder they hastened away. 8 They lifted up to the mountains;
then they sank down through the valleys, to the place You established for them. 9 You set a boundary they cannot pass;
so they might never again cover the earth.   10 He sends springs to pour forth in the valleys;
they flow between the mountains. 11 They give water to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 Beside them birds of the air make their homes;
they sing among the branches. 13 He waters the mountains from His upper chambers;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your work. 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for the service of man, to bring forth food from the earth: 15 wine that makes glad the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine, and bread to sustain his heart. 16 The trees of the Lord drink their fill,
the cedars of Lebanon that He planted. 17 There the birds make their nests;
the stork makes her home in the fir trees. 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;
the cliffs are a refuge for the coneys.   19 He made the moon to mark off the seasons;
the sun knows when to go down. 20 You bring darkness, and it is night,
and all the beasts of the forest prowl about. 21 The young lions roar after their prey,
and seek their food from God. 22 When the sun rises,
they go back and lay down in their dens. 23 Man goes out to his work
and to his labour until the evening.   24 O Lord, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. 25 There is the sea, great and wide,
teeming with creatures beyond number living things both small and great. 26 There go the ships back and forth;
there is the Leviathan, which You have made to frolic there.   27 These all wait for You,
to give them their food at the right time. 28 What You give them they gather;
when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 29 When you hide Your face,
they are dismayed; when You take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust. 30 When You send forth Your Spirit,
they are created, and You renew the face of the earth.   31 The glory of the Lord will endure forever;
the Lord will rejoice in His works. 32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles;
He touches the mountains, and they smoke.   33 I will sing to the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 34 My meditation of Him will be sweet;
I will be glad in the Lord. 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth,
and the wicked be no more.   Bless the Lord, O my soul.   Praise the Lord!
