The Book of Psalms
Psalm 94

God is the Great Judge

1Lord, God of vengeance,
O God of vengeance, shine forth!

2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth;
render to the proud what they deserve. 3 O Lord, how long will the wicked,
how long will the wicked triumph?   4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting. 5 They crush Your people, O Lord;
they afflict Your inheritance. 6 They slay the widow and the foreigner;
they murder the fatherless. 7 Yet they say, “The Lord will not see;
the God of Jacob will not regard it.”   8 Understand, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise? 9 He who planted the ear, will He not hear?
He who formed the eye, will He not see? 10 He who chastens the nations, will He not correct?
He who teaches man knowledge, will He not know? 11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man,
He knows that they are futile.   12 Blessed is the man whom You discipline, O Lord,
the man You instruct from Your law. 13 You may grant him relief in days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked. 14 For the Lord will not cast off His people;
He will never abandon His heritage. 15 Justice will again accord with righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.   16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will stand up for me against evildoers? 17 Unless the Lord had been my help,
my soul would have dwelt in the place of death. 18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your faithful love, O Lord, held me up. 19 When my anxious thoughts rise up within me,
Your comfort delights my soul.   20 Can a corrupt throne have fellowship with You,
one that contrives misery by its decrees? 21 They band together against the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death. 22 But the Lord is my stronghold;
my God is the rock of my refuge. 23 He will repay them for their iniquity,
and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.
