Ezekiel Chapter 46

The Format for the Worship Event

1
‘THIS

is what the Lord God says: “The gate of the inner court which faces east is to remain shut during the six working days, but it is to be opened on the Sabbath day and opened on the day of the New Moon.  2  The prince is to enter from the outside by way of the portico of the gate, and stand by the gatepost while the priests sacrifice his burnt offering and his fellowship offerings. He is to bow down in worship at the threshold of the gate and then go out, but the gate shall not be shut until evening.  3  Likewise the people of the land shall also bow down in worship before the Lord at the entrance of that same gate on the Sabbaths and on the New Moons.

4“The burnt offering which the prince presents to the Lord on the Sabbath day is to be six male lambs without defect, and a ram without defect.  5  The grain offering will be an ephah for the ram, and the grain offering for the lambs will be as much as he can afford to give, together with a hin of oil for each ephah.  6  On the day of the New Moon he is to offer a young bull without defect, and six lambs and a ram without defect.  7  He is to provide a grain offering of one ephah with the bull, one ephah with the ram, and as much as he can afford to give with the lambs, together with a hin of oil for each ephah.  8  When the prince enters, he is to go in by way of the portico of the gate, and he is to go out the same way.

9“When the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed festivals, whoever enters by way of the north gate to worship is to go out by way of the south gate; and whoever enters by way of the south gate is to go out by way of the north gate. No one is to go out through the gate by which he entered, but each is to go out through the opposite gate.  10  As for the prince, he is to go in when they go in, and go out when they go out.  11  At the festivals and the appointed feasts, the grain offering is to be an ephah for a bull, an ephah for a ram, and as much as he wishes to give for the lambs, together with a hin of oil for each ephah.

12  “When the prince makes a freewill offering, whether it is a burnt offering or a fellowship offering to the Lord, the gate that face east is to be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or his fellowship offering as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall leave, and the gate is to be shut after he has gone out.

13  “You shall provide a year-old lamb without defect each day for a burnt offering to the Lord; you are to provide it each morning.  14  You are to also prepare a grain offering with it each morning: a sixth of an ephah, with a third of a hind of oil to moisten the fine flour. This grain offering to the Lord is a lasting ordinance, to be observed regularly.  15  Thus the lamb, the grain offering, and the oil shall be provided every morning as a regular burnt offering.

The Prince and Inheritance Laws

16  ‘This is what the Lord God says: If the prince gives a gift to any of his sons from his inheritance, it will also pass to his son’s descendants; it will become their property by inheritance.  17  But if the prince gives a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, it will only belong to the servant until the year of freedom gives a gift from his inheritanceIf, however, he makes a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, the servant may keep it until the year of freedom, after which it will revert to the prince. His inheritance belongs his sons only; it will become theirs.  18  The prince must not take any of the people’s inheritance, by evicting them from their property. He is to provide his sons with their inheritance from his own property, so that none of My people will be dispossessed of their own property” ’.”

The Temple Kitchens

19  Then the man brought me through the entrance that was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which faced north. There I saw a space at the western end.  20  He said to me, “This is the place where the priests will boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they will bake the grain offering, so that they do not take them into the outer court and cause the people to become filled with holiness.”

21  He then brought me to the outer court and led me past the four corners of the court, and in each corner of the court there was another court.  22  In the four corners of the outer court there were enclosed courts, forty cubits long and thirty cubits; each of the courts in all four corners was the same size.  23  There was a row of masonry around the inside of all four courts, equipped with cooking hearths at the base of the rows of masonry all around.  24  He said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will boil the sacrifices of the people.”
