this I heard what seemed to be the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting:
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
2for true and righteous are His judgments!
He has judged the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her fornication;
and He has avenged on her
the blood of His servants that she shed.”
3 Again they shouted:
“Hallelujah!
Her smoke goes up forever and ever!”
4 Then the twenty-four elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God, who was seated upon the throne, saying:
“Amen! Hallelujah!”
5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
“Praise our God,
all you His servants,
you who fear Him,
both small and great!”
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude, like the sound of rushing waters, and like the rumbling of loud thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord God the Almighty reigns!
7 Let us be glad and rejoice,
and give Him glory!
For the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and His bride has prepared herself.
8 To her it has been granted to be clothed
in fine linen, bright and pure.”
The fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints.
9 Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” Then he said, “These are the true words of God.”
10 At this I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! He who sat upon the horse is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a fiery flame, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knows except Himself. 13 He was clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called the Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven followed Him on white horses, dressed in fine linen white and pure. 15 From out of His mouth came a sharp sword, with which He would strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron sceptre. He will tread the winepress of fierce wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written:
KING OF KINGS
AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he called out in a loud voice to all the birds flying in mid-heaven, “Come and gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you can eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, and flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, both small and great.”
19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war against the Rider on the horse and against His army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed miraculous signs on his behalf, by which he had deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshipped his image. Both of these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of Him who sat on the horse; and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
