the angel of the church in Ephesus write:
‘These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and who walks among the seven golden lampstands: 2 “I know your works, your labour, and your patient endurance. I know that you cannot tolerate evildoers. You have tested those who claim they are apostles but are not, and have found them to be false. 3 You have persevered and patiently endured many hardships for My name, and have not grown weary.
4 “But I have this against you: you have abandoned your first love. 5 Remember then the height from which you have fallen. Repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place if you do not repent. 6 Yet you have this in your favour: you hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 “He has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God” ’.
8 “To the angel of the church in Smyna write:
‘These are the words of the First and the Last, who was dead and came to life again: 9 “I know your tribulation and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say that they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Beware, the Devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be harmed by the second death.” ’
12 “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
‘These are the words of Him who has the sharp, two-edged sword: 13 “I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you are holding fast to My name, and did not deny your faith in Me, even in the days of Antipas, My faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan lives. 14 But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the sons of Israel, to entice them to eat food sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. 15 In the same way, some of you also hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will come to you soon, and fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name is written that no one knows, except the one who receives it” ’.
18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:
‘These are the words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze: 19 I know your works—your love, faith, service, and patient endurance. I know that your last works are greater than the first. 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and misleading My servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her practices. 23 I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.
24 “But I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching, who have not known the so-called deep things of Satan; I do not impose any other burden on you. 25 But hold fast to what you have until I come. 26 To him who overcomes and continues to do My works to the end, I will give him authority over the nations—
27 ‘He shall rule over them with an iron sceptre;
He will shatter them in pieces like pottery’—
just as I have also received authority from My Father. 28 I will also give him the morning star. 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” ’.”
