Revelation Chapter 16

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath

1
THEN

I heard a loud voice from the temple say to the seven angels, “Go! Pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”

The First Bowl

2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and foul and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshipped his image.

The Second Bowl

3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.

The Third Bowl

4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood.  5  And I heard the angel of the waters say:

“You are righteous, O Holy One,
who is and who was and who is to come, and You have passed judgment; 6 for they have shed the blood of the saints and prophets,
and You have given them blood to drink; it is what they deserve.”

7 Then I heard someone say from the altar:

“Yes, Lord God the Almighty,
true and just are Your judgments.”

The Fourth Bowl

8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun. Power was given to him to burn people with fire.  9  Men were scorched with the intense heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who had the power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give Him glory.

The Fifth Bowl

10  The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony,  11  and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; but they did not repent of their deeds.

The Sixth Bowl

12  The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.  13  Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.  14  They are the spirits of demons performing signs, who go out to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for the battle of the great day of God Almighty.

15  “Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who is alert and keeps his garments, so that he may not go naked, and they see his shame.”

16  Then they assembled them together at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The Seventh Bowl

17  The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”  18  Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake, such as had not occurred since man has been on the earth, so mighty an earthquake and so great.  19  The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the Great came into remembrance before God, and He gave her the cup filled with the wine of His fierce wrath.  20  Every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.  21  Great hailstones, each weighing about a talent, fell from heaven upon men, and they cursed God for the plague of hail, because the plague was so severe.
