the Lord said to Job:
2 “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?
Let the man who argues with God answer Him!”
3 Then Job answered the Lord:
4 “I am only small and insignificant;
how can I answer You?
I will lay my hand over my mouth.
5 I have spoken once, but I have no answer;
yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”
6 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind:
7 “Tuck your mantle under your belt like a man;
I will question you,
and you will answer Me.
8 Would you really nullify My justice?
Would you condemn Me, so that you may be justified?
9 Do you have an arm like God’s,
and can your voice thunder like His?
10 If so, then adorn yourself now with glory and splendour,
and clothe yourself with honour and majesty.
11 Unleash the fury of your wrath;
look on every proud man and humiliate him.
12 Look on every proud man and humble him;
tread down the wicked where they stand.
13 Hide them in the dust together;
shroud their faces in the nether regions.
14 Then I will also confess to you
that your own right hand can save you.
15 “Look now at the Behemoth,
which I made along with you.
He feeds on grass like the cattle.
16 See the strength he has in his loins,
and the power in the muscles of his belly.
17 He moves his tail like a cedar;
the sinews of his thighs are tightly knitted together.
18 His bones are tubes of bronze,
his limbs are like rods of iron.
19 He is the foremost of God’s works;
only his Maker can approach with drawn sword.
20 The hills produce his food for him,
out where all the wild animals frolic.
21 Under the lotus plants he lays,
hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotuses cover him in their shadows;
the thickets of the brooks seclude him.
23 When the river rages, he is not alarmed;
he rests securely, even if the Jordan surges against his mouth.
24 Can anyone capture him by the eyes,
or pierce his nose with a snare?”
