the graveyard awaits me.
2 Surely mockers surround me,
but to their provocations my eyes are shut.
3 “Lay down a pledge for me, O God,
for who else can go security for me?
4 You have kept their heart from understanding;

and I am one whom the people spit at.
7 My eyes have grown dim with grief,

in the face of darkness they say, ‘The light is near’.
13 “If I wait for Sheol as my home,
if I make my bed in the darkness,
14 if I say to the Pit, ‘You are my father’,
and to the worm, ‘My mother’ or ‘My sister’,
15 where then is my hope?
Who can see any hope for me?
16 Will it go down to the gates of Sheol?
Will we descend together to the dust?”
