concerning the collection for the people of God: you should do the same thing as I told the churches at Galatia to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each of you should put something aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that no collections will have to be made when I come. 3 Then when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you choose to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it is also suitable for me to go, they will accompany me.
I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia—for I will be going through Macedonia. 6 Perhaps I will remain with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my journey, wherever I go. 7 I do not want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. 8 But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 because a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am. 11 Therefore, let no one despise him. Send him on his way in peace so he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
Now concerning our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to visit you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come at this time. However, he will come when he has the opportunity.
Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong. 14 Let everything you do be done in love. 15 You know, brothers, the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. I urge you 16 to submit to such people, and to everyone who works and labours with them. 17 I rejoiced at the arrival of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because they have made up for what was lacking among you. 18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. So give recognition to such men.
The churches in the province of Asia send greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, together with the church that meets at their house. 20 All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand.
If anyone does not love the Lord—a curse be on him. O Lord, come!
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
