this, Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and He revealed Himself in this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I’m going fishing.”
“We’ll come with you,” they told him. So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5 Jesus called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
6 “Cast the net on the right side of the boat,” He told them, “and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!”
When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the sea. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, about a hundred metres. 9 When they got out on the land, they saw there a charcoal fire with fish laid out on it, and some bread.
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
11 So Simon Peter climbed on board and dragged the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three. Yet the net was not torn, even though there so many.
12 Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
14 This was now the third time that Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.
15 When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said to him, “You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
16 A second time Jesus asked him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”
“Yes Lord,” he answered. “You know that I love You.”
Jesus told him, “Take care of My sheep.”
17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”
Peter was grieved that Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. 18 I tell you the truth, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walked wherever you wanted. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will restrain you and take you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate by what kind of death Peter was to glorify God. After saying this, He told him, “Follow Me.”
20 Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, who had also leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is the one that will betray You?” 21 When Peter saw him, He said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
22 Jesus said to him, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow Me.”
23 So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?”
24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and wrote these things down, and we know that his testimony is true.
25 There also many other things that Jesus did as well. If they were all written down, one by one, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
