I looked up—and there before me was a flying scroll!
2 He asked me, “What do you see?”
I answered, “I see a flying scroll; twenty cubits in length and ten cubits in width.”
3 Then he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for every thief will be banished according to what is written on one side, and everyone who swears falsely will be banished according to what is written on the other side.”
4 “I will send out the curse,” the Lord of Hosts declares, “and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. It will remain in his house and destroy it, along with its timbers and its stones.”
5 Then the angel who was speaking with me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what this is that is approaching.”
6 I asked, “What is it?”
He replied, “It is a measuring basket that is approaching.” And he added, “This is their iniquity in all the land.”
7 Then the cover of lead was lifted up, and there was a woman sitting inside the basket. 8 Then he said, “This is Wickedness,” and he shoved her back into the basket and pushed shut the cover of lead over its opening.
9 Then I looked up, and there before me were two women approaching, and they had the wind in their wings! Their wings were like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and sky.
10 So I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “Where are they taking the basket?”
11 He replied, “To the land of Shinar to build a house for it. When it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.”
