Instructions concerning Prayer

1
FIRST

of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings he made for everyone  2  for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  3  This is good, and it pleases God our Saviour,  4  who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.  5  For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,  6  who gave Himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.  7  For this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostleI am telling the truth, I am not lyingand a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Men and Women in the Church

8 Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.

9 I also want women to dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, and not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,  10  but with good works, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

11  A woman should learn in silence with full submission.  12  I did not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead she must remain in silence.  13  For Adam was formed first, then Eve.  14  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.  15  But she will be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with modesty.
