Titus Chapter 2

Sound Teaching and Christian Living

1
YOU

must teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.  2  Older men are to be temperate, worthy of respect, sensible, and sound in faith, love, and endurance.

3 Likewise, older women are to be reverent in behaviour, and not slanderers or given to much wine. They are teach what is good,  4  then they will be able to train the young women to love their husbands and to love their children,  5  to be self-controlled and pure, to be homemakers, and to be submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.

6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.  7  In everything show yourself to be an example of good works. In your teaching show integrity and dignity  8  using sound speech that cannot be condemned. Then any opponents will be put to shame because they can find nothing bad to say about us.

9 Teach slaves to be submissive to their masters in everything, and to be well-pleasing in every respect, not talking back  10  or stealing, but showing they can be fully trusted, so that they may adorn the teachings of God our Saviour in every way.

11  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared for all people,  12  Instructing us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live lives that are self-controlled, righteous, and godly in this present age,  13  while we wait for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ,  14  who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed and to purify for Himself a people that are His own, eager to do good deeds.

15  These are the things you teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority, and do not let anyone despise you.
